Dental Emergencies

A dental emergency can happen at any time — a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost crown or filling, severe pain, or swelling. Knowing what to do in the moment can protect your smile and ease discomfort until you're seen.

For a knocked-out tooth, handle it by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it, and try to place it back in the socket or keep it in milk, then call us right away — quick action gives the best chance of saving it. For a cracked or broken tooth, rinse with warm water and use a cold compress to reduce swelling. If a crown or filling comes loose, keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side.

Much of the best emergency care is preventive: regular checkups and a thoughtful treatment plan reduce the risk of sudden problems. If you have a dental emergency, call the office at (508) 693-9682 — emergencies are seen as needed.
